Eagles-Jaguars Fantasy Football Stats
Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars Preseason Results
Donovan McNabb had a big showing in preseason football, with 244 yards on 21 of 36 passing for 1 touchdown (and 1 interception) and 10 yards rushing. Of course, McNabb’s big night was overshadowed by the first post-prison appearance of Michael Vick on an NFL field.
Michael Vick showed up under center on the 2nd play of the game, as Donovan McNabb split out wide as a decoy while Vick threw a shovel pass. Michael Vick finished with 4 completions on 4 attempts for 19 yards. You’ll note that most of the passes were shovel passes.
LeSean McCoy Fantasy Football News
LeSean McCoy looked like a Brian Westbrook clone, collecting 5 receptions in a half of play for 17 yards and adding 31 yards rushing and a TD on 11 rushing attempts. DeSean Jackson had 4 receptions for 47 yards and 1 carry for 15 yards, while Jeremy Maclin had 4 receptions for 53 yards (all with McNabb on the field), including being targeted on 3 out of 4 plays before a fumble at the 1 (by McNabb) ended a promising drive.
Jason Avant had a surprising 5 catches for 92 yards, and he was on the field a lot in the first quarter. Most of that production was from Donovan McNabb.
In other words, McNabb looks like he’s going to spread the ball around a lot, so tap the breaks on drafting too many Eagles receivers too high.
Philadelphia Eagles IDP Players
Among Eagles IDP players, those looking for the Eagles replacement of Stewart Bradley had to be a little disappointed when 2nd year middle linebacker Joe Mays collected only 1 solo tackle and 1 assist. Middle linebackers tend to have the most tackles, so one would hope for a little more. Trent Cole had 2 solo tackles and looks to be a Top 10 defensive end going into 2009. Quintin Mikell might be a decent fantasy option at strong safety, adding 2 solo tackles, though the Eagles Defense looked shaky tackling, so you might be concerned if you drafted the Eagles Team Defense.
Jacksonville Jaguars Fantasy Football Notes
David Garrard had a mediocre evening at quarterback, collecting 93 yards on 8 of 14 passing with an interception. A good bit of Garrard’s passing totals came from Maurice Jones-Drew, who had 2 receptions for 58, including a 45 yard reception. Jones-Drew had 12 yards rushing on 5 carries.
Jacksonville Jaguars Receiving Corps
Torry Holt had 2 receptions for 14 yards, while Troy Williamson cooled off after two big preseason games previously, adding only 1 reception for 11 yards. Marcedes Lewis had a couple of receptions for 26 yards.
Among IDP players, Reggie Nelson owners got some encouragement when Nelson collected 3 solo tackles. Derrick Harvey continued to show he might give fantasy owners a reason to hope by collecting one tackle (much better than the holdout last year).
