If you want to read more about cheers and cheerleading, here’s our crazy-big section on NFL Cheerleaders, including a write-up up every NFL cheerleading squad going (something like 27 of the 32 have official cheerleaders). For the girls out there, I hope you learn something about the most high profile cheerleaders in the country, while the guys can look at pictures of a lot of good-looking women.

Funny Football Mascots – Football Quotes

Not that I’m comparing an often dangerous athletic job like cheerleading to being a team mascot, but I wanted to include as much football culture or football “color” on this page, so here’s a link to our hard-hitting series on football mascots of the pros and colleges. Finally, I add our famous college quotes and an article highlighting football fans of all types.

Football Chants

The best cheers are chants which incorporate the crowd. Sometimes, these start in an ad hoc fashion in the stands, but most of the time, the cheerleader squads or the public address system gets these football chants and cheers going. This can be a big advantage for the home team, especially if there’s enough fans in the stadium to make it too noisy for visiting offensive players to hear the snap count.

Defensive Football Chants

  • D-FENCE! D-FENCE! D-FENCE!
  • Push ‘em Back, Push ‘em Back, Wayyyyyy Back!
  • D-D-D-Fense!
  • B-L-O-C-K, Block That Kick!
  • Take it away defense, take it away!

Offensive Football Chants

  • Scoreboaaaard! Scoreboaaaard!!!
  • You Can’t Stop Him! (clap-clap clap-clap-clap) You Can’t Stop Him!
  • First and Ten, Do It Again. Score ____ score!

Bad Call Chant

  • Buuullshit, buuulllshit!

End of Game Chant

(Better Used as a Baseball Relieving-the-Pitcher Chant)

  • Nana-Nana, Nana-Nana, Hey Hey Hey, Goodbye

Say It Louder Football Chant

  • We are ________ and couldn’t be prouder. If you didn’t hear us we will shout a little louder! WE ARE ______ COULDN’T BE PROUDER!

Our House Chant

  • This is our house! (clap-clap clap-clap-clap) This is our house!
