Fantasy football touchdown leagues are a weird creature, because some players who are killer in standard fantasy scoring systems are next to useless in the touchdown only scoring league. Perhaps the best example of what I’m talking about in the current NFL is Wes Welker, who is great in high performance point-for-reception leagues, good in performance leagues where yardage counts, but mediocre in touchdown-only fantasy football leagues.
When looking for players in fantasy football touchdown only leagues, you have to find short yardage runners and goal line running backs, while you have to find receivers who are targetted in the red zone offense. Tight ends who are relied upon by their quarterback, like Jason Witten, are solid touchdown-only players.
Playing in a touchdown fantasy league requires patience, though, because you might have a player who puts up big yards, but if he’s not lucky enough to score the TD, he’s useless to you. Luck can play a larger role any given Sunday in a touchdown league, but you can improve your luck by finding the types of NFL players who score the most touchdowns.
