Fantasy Sports Live Journal Week 10

NFL Week 10

FantasySportsLive.com - Fantasy Sports LiveThe NFL regular season marches on, and I’m having a real blast over at Fantasy Sports Live. There’s always a new strategy to try out or a new undervalued player to sneak onto my team.

While I don’t win all the time at Fantasy Sports Live, I’ve been able to stay profitable so far, and that’s good enough for me. As the season enters its final stretch, I’m hoping some of my earlier lessons will pay off in late winning strategies. Guess we’ll see.

Fantasy Sports Live – Week 9 Results

I entered three contests last week at Fantasy Sports Live, so let’s take a look and see how I did.

Fantasy Sports Live Contest 1 – Week 9 – #27726
Heads-up contest with 1st place paying $10 – Entry fee is $5.5.
800 point salary cap

Players like DeSean Jackson of the Eagles and Terrell Owens of the Cowboys let me down, but I got a nice boost from Gus Frerotte, Bernard Berrian and Tim Hightower. The Cardinals runner took the starting job from Edgerrin James in Week Nine, and he responded by rushing for over 100 yards and a touchdown. Matt Bryant was solid as usual, and the Jags defense didn’t completely embarrass themselves.

My total for the week was 102.9 points. My opponent, Randy, only scored 78.8, so that was enough to give me the win and a $10 prize.

FSL Contest #2 – Week 9 – #27497

Heads-Up Contest with 1st place paying $6 – Entry fee is $3.4
No Salary Cap

Brandon Marshall has really cooled off after a phenomenal start, but my starting runners combined for 33 points. This greatly helped my team, as well as Kurt Warner and his 25.5. I was hoping for more from the Tampa defense than 1.5, especially against the hapless Chiefs.

Still, I ended up with 100.8 points. Pokernut0826, my opponent, only got 85.8 points, so I won my second heads-up contest of the week. This time around, the prize was $6.

FantasySportsLive.com Contest #3 – Week 9 – #27409

Blogger Battle
10-team contest with 1st prize of $50 – $11 entry fee

The first few weeks of the season, I was really dominating the Blogger Battle. Recently, however, it looks as though my luck has run out. I finished in 5th place this week with a total of 93.4. The winner, by way of comparison, had 108.6. At least I beat my old rival Buffalo66, no thanks to Willis McGhee (who put up a big fat zero).

When the dust cleared, my total bankroll was $511. That means I’ve shown an $11 profit so far this season. Of course, keep in mind that I’ve been playing for pretty low stakes. This week, I might decide to push the envelope a bit more. As the old saying goes, “You can’t win if you don’t play.”

Fantasy Sports Live – Week 10 Contests

Like always, I’m entering three contests this week over at Fantasy Sports Live. If you’ve never played there before, I highly recommend that you give it a try.

Contests are available both with and without a salary cap, and each team you create can be totally different. There are entry fees for people of all budgets, and high rollers will be especially pleased by some of the more exclusive contests. If you win, the money is deposited right into your account.

It’s fun, easy and totally legal. So what in the world are you waiting for? Head on over to Fantasy Sports Live and see what all the fuss is about.

Fantasy Sports Live – Contest #1 – Week 10 – #28563

Heads-up contest with a 1st prize of $20 – Entry fee is $11.
No salary cap.

Quarterback – Drew Brees is still on a pace to break Dan Marino’s record of most yards passing in a season, and this week he faces the Falcons. Coming off a bye week, receiver Marques Colston should have shook the rust off, and that makes Brees even more dangerous than before.

Wide Receivers – For receivers, I went with Roddy White, Greg Jennings and Andre Johnson. The Saints are giving up lots of big pass plays, and Roddy White should benefit. Andre Johnson is the hottest receiver in the league right now, and Greg Jennings remains a threat to score each and every week.

Running Backs – Tomlinson is taking on the Chiefs, the team with the worst rushing defense in the league. Adrian Peterson, meanwhile, has been heating up, rushing for over 110 yards in three straight games. He plays the Packers this week, and they’re currently 27th against the run.

Tight End – Gates leads all tight ends in touchdowns scored. This week, he takes on the Chiefs. That’s like money in the bank.

Kicker – John Kasay has been solid this year, and he’s going against the Raiders this week. The Panthers should be putting up lots of points, and Kasay will get a piece of that sweet, sweet pie. And, really, who doesn’t like a little pie every now and again?

Defense – The Panthers defense against the Raiders. This one isn’t going to be pretty.

Fantasy Sports Live – Contest #2 – Week 10 – #28207

Blogger Battle – 10 teams – $50 for 1st place – Entry fee of $11.
950 point salary cap

Total Cap Cost = 904
Remaining Points = 46

Quarterback – When a player’s hot, it’s foolish not to ride them for all they’re worth. When it comes to quarterbacks in the NFL, nobody is hotter this season than Drew Brees. Nuff said.

Wide Receivers – Colston should be completely healthy and ready to go. That means Drew Brees will look to him early and often. Roddy White is taking on a defense that gets burned deep, and Kevin Curtis is rounding back into shape following time off for a hernia surgery.

Running Backs – Tomlinson versus the Chiefs again. I also added Deuce McAllister. The Falcons are allowing 4.7 yards per rushing attempt, and the Saints appear to really be leaning on Deuce with Reggie Bush out.

Tight End – Gates against the Chiefs. Can you say touchdown?

Kicker – I went with John Kasay again. Let the scoring begin!

Defense – I expect the Raiders to get toasted, and the Panthers D will be the beneficiary. DeAngelo Hall is one lucky dude.

Fantasy Sports Live – Contest #3 – Week 10 – #28214

Six player contest with 1st prize paying $20 – Entry fee of $5.5
No salary cap

Quarterback – With Matt Schaub out, Sage Rosenfels will be taking over the reigns of the Texans’ lethal passing game. Every 16.7 pass attempts, Rosenfels throws for a touchdown, making him the most dangerous QB in the league stretching back to 2007. They’re taking on the Ravens, but the boys from Baltimore will be without their starting cornerbacks.

Wide Receivers – Johnson and White are two of the hottest things going right now. I’ve also added Reggie Wayne into the mix. He was banged up last week, but still managed to contribute. Its been a few weeks since he scored a touchdown, however, and I expect him to make up for lost time in this game.

Running Backs – Tomlinson against the Chiefs is a no-brainer. DeAngelo Williams is coming off a bye week, and he’s facing a Raiders squad that may be at its lowest point of the season. They’ve completely given up, and the Panthers should have a field day.

Tight End – I decided to go with Antonio Gates, arguably the best in the business.

Kicker – John Kasay….again.

Defense – In three of their last five games, the Panthers have held opponents to less than 10 points. This week, they travel to Oakland and take on the once-mighty Raiders. Man, I can smell the fantasy points from here.

After paying my entry fees for the week, my bankroll now stands at $483.50. If I can win all three contests, I’ll get $90 and be vaulted up to $573.50. I’m hoping for the best, but even placing in the money in a few contests will be good enough for me.

If you get a chance, why not sign up for Fantasy Sports Live and take me on? You’ve got the numbers of the contests I’ve entered, so you’ve really got no excuse.

What are you…chicken? Come on, I double dog dare you!
