Dolphins-Buccaneers Preseason Results

Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Week 3 Preseason

Chad Pennington had strong enough looking numbers against the Bucs, posting 9 completions for 128 yards and a touchdown, but it was hardly a confidence-building performance. The Dolphins hardly moved on their first four possessions and only moved in the first half during the two-minute drill. Once the team came out of halftime, Pennington led a drive for a touchdown. The Pennington touchdown was a 2-yard pass to Anthony Fasano, who appears set to have another solid fantasy season.

Strangely, Ben Hartline was Pennington’s main target, as Hartline caught 3 balls for 79 yards. There has been a lot of talk about Ted Ginn Jr. in his third year and Davone Bess, but Ginn and Bess each had only one reception apiece. Greg Camarillo had 1 reception for 52 yards, which is encouraging coming back from a big injury, but that play was after the first team was off the field.

Ronnie Brown Fantasy Football News

Ronnie Brown didn’t put a whole lot of production on the board. Ronnie Brown had 4 carries for 12 yards rushing, while he added 2 receptions for 15 yards. Note that Ricky Williams was getting carries with the first team offense, spelling Ronnie Brown at times.

On the IDP front, Gibril Wilson looks like he might get lots of tackles this year at strong safety. Gibril Wilson had 6 solo tackles and 2 assists, while Yeremiah Bell had 4 tackles and an assist in a half of play. Philip Merling had 1 tackle, while Jason Taylor picked up 3 tackles and 1 assists along the defensive front. Meanwhile, Channing Crowder looked strong in a half of play with 3 solo tackles and 1 assist.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Preseason Report

All in all, there wasn’t a whole lot of offense on display between the Dolphins and Bucs. Keep in mind that a monsoon hit the game, so both teams played conservatively and didn’t get a whole lot done offensively.

Byron Leftwich had the best numbers among the Buccaneers quarterbacks, putting up 100 yards, 0 touchdowns and 0 interceptions on 9-of-17 passing attempts. Leftwich’s completion percentage needs to increase, and he missed a couple of open receivers.

Luke McCown came on in relief and posted a lousy 5 of 11 completions for only 38 yards, while Josh Freeman had only 6 completions on 16 attempts for 50 yards. With those numbers, it’s no surprise that no Bucs receivers posted much, though Maurice Stovall got 6 for 73 yards. Kellen Winslow didn’t have a catch, though Byron Leftwich overthrew Winslow on a route that should have netted 30 to 35 yards.

Derrick Ward Fantasy Football News

Derrick Ward didn’t get a whole lot of production, with 3 yards on 4 carries and 13 yards on 2 receptions. Ernest Graham did better with 5 carries for 39 yards, while Cadillac Williams showed signs of life with 8 carries for 54 yards. That’s funny, because I told an owner who handcuffed Derrick Ward with Ernest Graham earlier in the day that Cadillac was certain to take production away from both (I was joking).
