Tom Brady Fantasy Football News

Tom Brady Shines in His Debut

Tom Brady looked awesome in his preseason debut, throwing for 10 receptions on 15 attempts for 100 yards and 2 touchdowns (both to Chris Baker, who came over to the Pats from the New York Jets in the offseason). Randy Moss had 3 receptions for 54 yards. Wes Welker didn’t play, while Joey Galloway played and didn’t pull down a reception.

New England Patriots Running Game

For what it’s worth, Laurence Maroney got the start at RB for the Patriots, with 6 rushes for 14 yards. Sammy Morris led New England with 12 rush attempts for 45 yards as the runner to open the 2nd half, while BenJarvus Green-Ellis had 4 rushes for 31 yards in spot duty in the 4th quarter. As usual, Laurence Maroney looked ineffectual, while the so-called backups looked like they had more to offer.

Of course, if you’ve been keeping up with fantasy football since Corey Dillon left the NFL, the New England Patriots is a complete riddle and isn’t worth drafting players anywhere in the top half of the draft. Tom Brady and the receivers get the lion’s share of the production and just about all of the touchdowns. If you have the spots open, take a flier on Sammy Morris late-late in the draft. Otherwise, avoid this running game entirely.

Jerod Mayo IDP – Fantasy Football News

Meanwhile, Jerod Mayo had 5 solo tackles in limited play. If you have an IDP Draft coming up soon, Jerod Mayo is a name to remember. He was good his rookie year and should be better this year.
